What Does a Credit Representative Actually Do for You?

29 September 2026

When you walk into a bank branch, the person across the desk can only offer that bank’s loans. A credit representative works differently: we operate under an Australian Credit Licence and can compare options across a panel of lenders, then recommend the one whose policy suits your situation.

What that looks like in practice

  • We start with your situation, not a product. Income type, existing debts, the property or business, and what you are trying to achieve.
  • We match you to lender policy. Lenders differ in how they treat self-employed income, bonuses, rental income, commercial leases and unusual security. The right fit is often about policy, not just price.
  • We prepare the file the way that lender reads it. Gaps are explained up front, which usually means fewer questions and a smoother assessment.
  • We stay with you after approval. Conditions, valuation, settlement and later reviews as your circumstances change.

How we are paid

We are paid by the lender on settlement, and that is disclosed to you before you proceed. Every application is assessed by the lender independently.

Hi, I'm Jack Si from Australian Finance Service Solutions.

A credit representative's job isn't to hand you one lender's product, it's to go through your situation and find which lender, out of a whole panel, actually fits it. That's the difference between being sold something and being matched with something.
